Awana Grand Prix Results

They are all winners! We came out on top in the design category, rather than speed. There were approximately 55 cars in all- three different classes. Thomas Edison's car was either 4th or 5th for speed in his class. We aren't sure because they only announced the top three after the computer averaged the times.

The two little boys were in the "Open Class" - Leif came in 2nd for design and Davy was 1st.
Thomas Edison was 2nd in the "T &T Class" and Pocahontas came in 1st.

It was a fun morning. Daddy was able to go in late to work, so he got to be there for the whole event.

Our General Store

The kids set up a "General Store". It expanded to two other shops on the same "street". They had a great time and operated their stores for three days before closing shop. They set up their own currency, priced items, traded and more.

Awana Quizzing

Thomas Edison and Pocahontas competed in the regional Awana Quizzing yesterday. They faced stiff competition. They worked very hard, spending 8 extra hours attending Quiz practice as well as hours studying at home. They did great! It was the first time ever that Grace E Free Church had all of their teams place in quizzing.

Thomas Edison's team came in 4th out of 5 teams. Book 4 is the toughest because they might ask questions from the 3 previous handbooks as well. It was more challenging, and nerve wracking to be on stage, than he expected. His teams tried to buzz in during the speed round, but some of the teams buzzed in faster. He did answer 3 questions (out of ten total ) and missed them by being one word off. A little frustrating, but he did his best.

Pocahontas is in Book 2. Her team placed 2nd out of 6 teams. They were great.

A Decade Has Passed

My sweet little girl is 10 years old today. I am amazed at how the years have flown by! She is my "Dr. Doolittle". She wants to adopt every cat at Petsmart. She is the keeper of our guinea pig cage. She loves our dog,, but is now saving ALL of her money to buy a puppy. She is spending hours researching ...dog breeds and reading puppy training books. I am blessed with a wonderful daughter.
